Apparently, there’s a ‘new’ pope who is pretty much like the last one except he’s Latino. Oh well, it’s not like anyone was expecting a Popette or even a pope who’s not against pretty much everything that the Women’s Liberation and GLBT rights stand for. There probably won’t me much of an effect on the Lebanese LGBT community since the new guy aims to revert Argentina’s laws on equality discrimination from those who suffer from same-sex attraction and on those who are adopted by them. But, at least the new guy is big on poverty. So, I guess I might see more social services from the Maronite Church in these corners. I’m poor enough to be look forward to that
Until we get beat up poverty in Lebanon, I’m gonna commemorate the new papal election through the best ways I know: gayness (without choosing to be)
In the past decades there appeared in Latin America a movement within the Church that advocated a “theology of Liberation;” mainly seeking to rally the poor along socialist platforms and teaching them as well as fighting with them for their rights. This, of course, appalled the Vatican since it threatened the classical role of the Church — a tool in the hands of the rich aimed at keeping the poor and dispossessed (the unpeople) at bay. And our new Pope was one appointed by non other than the infamous Jean Paull II as a reactionary figure in an attempt to thwart all such movements.
And no, I don’t think this new Pope has anything new to teach the Maronite Church. They already have all bases covered.
Bless Them.
Oh, well, I don’t really needed that much optimism in the first place
Yeah, that institution outlived its days.
Hey, you know what pisses me off when people ignore me without previous warning
I don’t know….
